Swamp Cyprus

Habitat: Despite its name, it does not require a swamp to grow in.  However, when given these conditions it produces “knees” – knobs that look like termite hills, rising from the roots underwater.

Fact: The tree is beautiful in the autumn when it turns a brilliant orange before shedding its leaves.  An American native, the swamp Cyprus belongs to a group of conifers that are the oldest and largest around.
