Become a Beale Park Volunteer

Do you have some spare time? Would you like to assist with the work of The Child Beale Trust?

There is always plenty to do at Beale Park:

  • Administration/Marketing
  • Husbandry
  • Construction
  • Fundraising
  • Gardening
  • Maintenance
  • Marshalling
  • Shows and Exhibitions

Are you interested? Can you help? If so, why not become a Beale Park volunteer and join the team working in one of Berkshire's most beautiful wildlife parks and gardens.

The Role of a Volunteer

Volunteers play an important part in the running of the Park and can be involved in almost every aspect of our work, depending on their experience and the amount of time that they are able to contribute.  Examples include:

Administration/Marketing

Assisting in the office with general duties such as answering the telephone, processing bookings, research and event organisation. 

Days available – any weekday.

Animal Department

Duties may include food preparation, cleaning and enclosure maintenance.

Days available – any weekday.

Gardening

Horticultural work e.g. weeding, planting, watering, general garden maintenance, some construction, renovation and project work. 

Days available – any weekday.

Grounds Maintenance

Physical work such as sweeping paths, cleaning paddling pools, painting, mowing and building projects.

Days available – any weekday.

Requirements

No formal qualifications are required to become a volunteer, however you will need to be reliable and courteous when dealing with visitors and staff.  For health and safety reasons all volunteers must be over 18 years old. 

Volunteers are subject to mandatory CRB police check. 

Benefits

Following a qualifying period of 40 hours work during one year we will offer you a season ticket to the Park.

Training

Training varies according to the department you work with.  Basic training will include emergency procedures, health and safety and an overview of the Park, with additional training relating to the work that you are volunteering for.
